Elements of a major renovation to a Southside Jacksonville business complex is about to get underway.

Bank of America has received approval for renovations to nearly 100,000 square feet on two floors of the complex at 9000 Southside Blvd. The combined cost of the initial stages is about $17 million, according to building permits.

Additional work will be involved beyond the permits already approved as part of the overall renovation that will be ongoing for most of the rest of the year. The complete renovation will involve the third, fourth and fifth floors in two separate buildings.

Marand Builders Inc. is the contractor.

A sure sign the elaborate practice facility for the Jacksonville Jaguars is taking shape is the soon-to-be-added bleachers section for the complex.

A shop under the bleachers also is planned for the Miller Electric Center at 1270 Beaver St. The area for the bleachers will cover 23,563 square feet and cost about $5 million, according to the recently approved building permits.

The bleachers are just the latest addition to the practice facility just west of TIAA Bank Field where the Jaguars play their home games. Construction is already underway for the indoor practice areas, administrative offices and structural steel support areas.

The entire facility will end up costing about $120 million split between the Jaguars and the city, which owns all the land.

The Haskell Co. is the contractor for most of the work that has received permit approval thus far. The project is expected to be completed by the beginning of the 2023 NFL season.
